AUSTIN: Dark Corridor (Image Comics)

2015 was the year I noticed that many other sites by-and-large give up on reviewing comics after #1. While I can understand that in rare cases, as a general trend it's a heaping pile of bull shit. Dark Corridor is the best one of several titles Image is putting out this year that people just sort of... stopped talking about. A cartoony, pulpy, shoot first and have sex later noir story, Dark Corridor is consistently full of pages that full of Tommaso successfully experimenting with the comics form.

JAMES: Shutter (Image Comics)

From the very first isue and through now, I have been hooked into Shutter. Joe Keatinge and Leila del Duca's trippy action/adventure in a world "much more fantastic than our own" is all that and more. It has been must read for me and it never fails to disappoint, ever. In fact, each issue has built upon the previous to become one of the most original and fantastic series that I have had the pleasure to read.

DAVID: Will Eisner's The Spirit (Dynamite)

Coming out of the gates with a wobbly first issue, who could have expected this series would go from strength to strength as it has? Indeed, with every issue that comes out I fall a little more in love with this fantastic series. Style, fun, mystery, action and romance: this book has it all. A wonderful new interpretation of Will Eisner's classic creation, one that I feel hasn't received the recognition it deserves.

STEVE: Postal (Top Cow/Image)

While I'm still not a fan of its super indie-looking art and colors, the writing on Postal, as well as its inclusion of this year's most intriguing and robustly-written protagonists, is the best I've read all year, hands down.

ASA: Injection (Image Comics)

It's odd to call anything by Warren Ellis underrated, especially a book from the creative team behind the hugely popular "Moon Knight". But somehow, perhaps due to a confusing first couple of issues, this book was met with little to no buzz. That's a shame because the end of the first arc marked the book as one of Ellis' best. Injection is a high concept fusion of urban fantasy and sci-fi conspiracy that somehow has given artist Declan Shalvey range to become an even more masterful illustrator. This is not a book to miss.

DUSTIN: The Ghost Fleet (Dark Horse Comics)

If you missed The Ghost Fleet then sadly you're one of the reasons it was cancelled. This book exactly what Dark Horse needed, but unfortunately it didn't find its audience even thought it had a touching story filled with heart, action and humor. The art was also fucking amazing and series artist Daniel Warren Johnson is already become a big deal in the industry. Years later people will discover this series, because of him, and wonder how they missed it and regret not supporting it. It's that fucking good.
