Best of 2016: Interceptor

By Dustin Cabeal

We’re not here to argue if Heavy Metal even knew it was publishing single monthly issues or why they would almost intentionally tank a solid line-up of books that had critics and readers genuinely excited about their monthly titles. Nor are we here to say that maybe they didn’t really know what the fuck they were getting into with monthly comics. No. Instead we're here to talk about how lucky we were to get Interceptor this year.

Vampires have taken over the earth. So, humans left earth, but there’s a threat of vampires finding their new home. Earth decides to send one lone warrior to deal with the threat, and nothing else is normal or expected from there. The story has layers, and while it was wacky at points, fun loving action at others, there was a lot of heart pouring from the pages of this series. It stayed with me and so when I put this list together, I didn’t have to think long to add its name. If you can find it, find it and then read the hell out of it.
