Tokyo Ghoul almost made my top five anime list so you can imagine that it’s pretty high up there on my manga list as well. While the two have deviated from each other, both are still very enjoyable. The manga is one I have a hard time putting down, so I waited until almost the end of the year to read… well, basically everything that released for the series. Read it all in two days across two naps. It’s just that good. I describe as a time warp, you don’t know you’ve entered, but suddenly it’s 2 in the morning, and you’re going to be tired tomorrow. Doesn’t mean you’ll regret being tired, probably the opposite.

One of the biggest standouts for this series is the artwork. It’s very different from most popular manga out there, and while it’s not always perfect, it’s so different that I can’t stop looking at it. It’s iconic and leaving its mark on the industry which will hopefully open doors for other creators with styles that vary from the prevailing norm. What amazes me is that people still don’t know about this series, but they should.
