"Penguinify” Your Comic Shop Contest Launches for Igloo Barbecue: Global Warming Party #1
Press Release
This April sees the release of Josh Blaylock’s Igloo Barbecue, a penguin-filled anthropomorphic comic book industry satire some are calling a cross between Bojack Horseman and Scott Pilgrim. A hilarious self-aware tale of “adulting” (poorly) in a world of comic pop culture while surrounded by too many feathered hipsters in the big city of Arctopolis.
Igloo Barbecue: Global Warming Party is written and lllustrated by Blaylock, with story edits by Shawn DePasquale (co-creator of Galaxys for Hire, EIC of McCauley Caulkin humor blog Bunny Ears). Coming this April from Devil's Due Comics.
The winning store and staff members will be “penguinified” (morphed into Antarctic versions of their human selves) in a back-up story in volume 1 written and illustrated by Blaylock, and given 25 signed copies of the issue and an original illustration of the penguin shop staff.
The star character, Blizzy Glacier, a professional comic artist (and penguin) feeling uncertain of his creative future, must choose to stick to his indie roots or take a risk and make a change. Previously released in 2017 as a convention-only exclusive, this one-shot special drops in comic shops this April, and is currently available for preorder in Diamond’s PREVIEWS (Diamond order # FEB181475 listed under Devil's Due / 1First Comics).
Contestants may enter by submitting their store info at http://www.igloobbq.com - no purchase necessary to win. The deadline to enter is February 21st, with the winner to be announced February 23rd during the ComicsPro Retailer Summit in Portland, OR
