Review: My Hero Academia E.018

Things are heating up at UA academy's sports festival, literally. The competition between Bakugou, Midoriya, and Todoroki is fierce; it’s non-stop action from start to finish with Midioriya being the center of it all; Class 1-B’s presence only makes matters more explosive when Neito Monoma, a student from Class 1-B, challenges Class 1-A by abruptly taking Bakugou’s headband. Neito’s bold and rather shrewd move garners a lot of attention for Class 1-B, and for the second time this season we get the chance to find out what some of the students from Class 1-B abilities are. Neito’s copying ability is reminiscent of Rogue from the X-men; his snide personality only exacerbates Bakugou further.
However, the cavalry battle between Midoriya and Todoroki takes center stage. The rapid back-and-forth between Class 1-A’s notable students had me on the edge of my seat. For a moment, it seemed as if Midioriya would successfully stave off Todoroki’s advances until Iida’s unanticipated move turned the tide. The clock is ticking, and Midoriya is without his headband. He tries to retrieve it but unfortunately ends up with the wrong one, and frankly, I was beginning to question whether he and his team would qualify for the next stage until Tokoyami revealed the headband he stole from Todoroki’s team in the midst of their battle. On the other side of the field, Bakugou and his team are fighting to recapture their headband from Neito. At the end of their fight, Bakugou leaves victorious and manages to recapture his headband as well as Neito’s stolen headbands.
We are once again reminded why Class 1-A is the top hero class at the academy but it is looking as if Hitoshi Shinsou, an uprising student from the General Department of Education at UA, who declared war earlier at the start of this season on Class 1-A, might just be the underdog to disturb the status quo. The tension does not seem to cease even near the end of the episode with the sparks flying between Endeavour and All Might and Midoriya and Todoroki. What is the history between the two pro-heroes and why is Todoroki so determined to beat Midoriya? This season of My Hero Academia definitely promises to be a gripping, action-packed, and dramatic one.
