This week I'm reviewing Vampirella #0 from Dynamite Entertainment... It's a new series for the character, and it's being written by Paul Cornell and drawn by Jimmy Broxton. I am not the biggest fan of Vampirella (I think the last time I read an issue of Vampirella, I tore it to shreds... it was terrible and I haven't gone back to the character since.) and I am not really that big of a fan of Zero issues… But I'm stuck for things to review this week, so I have decided to give this one a go. Let's see what I thought of it…

It wasn't too bad. Honestly, are you enjoyed this a lot more than I was expecting to enjoy it. I'm still not that keen on the character, but I didn't mind reading this. I'm not saying I've completely changed my mind about the character, but I am interested to see what this creative team doors with the character.

Paul Cornell has a very unique style of writing, he's kinda poetic in its execution and I can appreciate that. I think this issue is a good introduction and for twenty-five cents (I am not sure what that is in English money, probably a straight conversion from dollars to pounds.)

Jimmy Broxton's art is very nice in this book (I like his style anyways, so I have no problem with it), its got really old school feel to it which fits in with the retro style of how the comic is being made to appear. To some really nice page layouts and the bulk panel composition is a few panels that I really liked, the one that sticks out is the page where Vampirella first appears in the book. That's a really nice page. The coloring is really nice in this, too. It kind of made me think of a pack of fruit Mentos... that's the color scheme in this book. That and blood. It's a Blood and fruit Mentos color scheme.

There isn't all that much story in this issue but it's only meant to be setting up readers for the series, so I think it's enough to make people want to carry on and see what happens in issue number one.

This is a weird book for me personally. I like vampires and I like horror comics, so I don't see why I couldn't possibly like this character. I just don't... Maybe I just need to read more. I think that's probably my main problem with Vampirella, I haven't read enough of it. Or it could be that the issues that I've read haven't had the right creative team working on the character. This team's pretty solid, so I guess I'll have to wait and see...

Overall, I think there's enough here to justify spending $.25 on it. If you don't like the character you can't really complain about taking a chance on the book for the price that it is and you might possibly want to continue reading it. I think I will give it a few more issues, maybe three or so, just to see if I can get into it.
