CHRIS: More Marvel Films

At what point does the public stop caring about the Marvel film universe? Imagine in ten years having to catch up someone who never watched any of them and having to sit through 30+ films just to get the entire story. And I thought watching six Star Wars movies was a lot of time in front of a screen. Some of the films are decent, but it will be fun to watch the universe they've created crumble in on itself under its own weight.

JAMES: Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice

The hype for this thing just feels way too amped up like the producers think they can will this thing to be good. I don't know if it is possible and it would not be the first time that a DC title lead me down a path of great expectation only to pull the rug out from me upon release (Green Lantern anyone?) It just seems like there are way too many things that can go wrong than what cannot. Still though, I can hope and I am sure that I will be one of the first saps in line to spend my hard earned money for better or for worse.

ASA: The New But Not Improved Marvel

The end of 2015 saw a surprising, somewhat successful influx of new talent into DC--sadly the same is not true for Marvel whose summer crossover marked the last hurrah (for the moment) of writer Jonathan Hickman. He now joins the ranks of Kieron Gillen and Matt Fraction as former Marvel superstars who are now writing mostly for Image. Hickman has operated as Marvel's most recent architect and has two successful crossover events to his name, in other words, he will be missed. And in his place are writers who, while competent, do not fill me with any confidence or even excitement. As All New All Different Marvel crawls forward towards its first big crossover, I remain apprehensive about the future.
