Batroc The Leaper Is An MMA Fighter

Look at that... he's acting right now. He's acting like he gives a fuck.

I wonder what this thought process was: "Get me one of the greatest American actors Robert Redford and a French speaking MMA guy." Seriously they got a guy who I seriously doubt has any acting experience and they want him to play the most annoying Captain A-Town villains ever? Have you ever read Batroc's dialog and not been pissed off? I don't know jack shit about Georges St-Pierre that can't be found on his wiki page, but I for one am really tired of MMA fighters being the new "tough guy/villain" pool that Hollywood goes to. I will say good on them for getting a guy that actually speaks French... even if they're trying to fool the audience since he's actually from Canada.

Todd McFarlane Is Cool With Angela Dating Other Companies

Newsarama probed McFarlane for a response on the whole Angela being apart of the Marvel U now (probably because Gaiman needed to recoup lawyer costs, just like the last time he worked there). I'm going to sum it up quite simply for you. He said it's Gaiman's character and that whatever he does with her is good for comics and that's good for everyone.

What? Were you expecting him to be like, "Oh fuck that shit, I'm going to create a sexier angel wearing less clothing and call her Becky or better yet just Angel." Nope, short and sweet. I'm sure he made piece with this shit long ago and probably wishes he had been better at business contracts in the beginning days of Spawn.

First Look: Quantum and Woody #1 from Asmus, Fowler and Valiant

On July 10th, a new era begins for the world's worst superhero team in Quantum and Woody #1!

Valiant is proud to announce that award-winning writer James Asmus (Gambit, Thief of Thieves, Captain America & Bucky) and acclaimed artist Tom Fowler (Venom, Hulk: Season One) are bringing Valiant's first full-on superhero team back to the Valiant Universe with an all-new ongoing series beginning on July 10th in Quantum and Woody #1!

Once upon a time, Eric and Woody Henderson were inseparable. Adopted brothers. Best friends. Brilliant minds. Years later, they are estranged siblings, petty rivals, and washed-up failures. But when their father’s murder leads them into the throes of a life-altering scientific accident, Eric and Woody will find themselves with a whole new purpose – and a perfectly legitimate reason to wear costumes and fight crime. Go big or go home, folks! Quantum and Woody are coming! And the action-packed, zeitgeist-shredding exploitation stunt comic you demanded is here at last.

(And, yes, there will be a goat too. Eventually.)

"Quantum and Woody are one of the most beloved superhero duos in comics. There's a rich history to draw on here and we have some very exciting things on deck for Quantum and Woody in 2013 and beyond," said Valiant Executive Editor Warren Simons.

"Since the day X-O Manowar #1 hit shelves, everywhere we've turned, fans have been demanding that Quantum and Woody step back into the spotlight," said Quantum and Woody Editor Jody LeHeup. "James, Tom and Jordie are delivering a smart, heart-filled take on the team that will be central to the new Valiant Universe, and one that honors the spirit and bravado of what came before."

Launched by Christopher Priest and M.D. Bright for Acclaim Entertainment's rebooted Valiant Universe in 1997, Quantum and Woody became one of the most beloved independent superhero titles of the decade, spawning a rabid and loyal following that endures to this day. Most recently, Valiant Entertainment re-issued the entirety of the original series for the first time digitally via comiXology

"In all of comics, there's no other book that mixed style and substance quite like Quantum and Woody. I was willing to literally kill someone for the chance to write the relaunch for the new Valiant Universe. I might have. Those first days after I got the call are a blur. But Quantum and Woody isn't (just) a superhero book – it's action-comedy, it's family drama, it's a boys-meet-goat tale that tugs at the heartstrings," said writer James Asmus.

On July 10th, the Valiant Universe's most infamous duo enter the fray with writer James Asmus, artist Tom Fowler and colorist Jordie Bellaire in Quantum and Woody #1 – featuring a standard cover by Ryan Sook, a Pullbox Exclusive Variant by Marcos Martinfor customers who pre-order with the their local retailer, an incentive variant by Andrew Robinson, and an interactive QR Voice Variant by Tom Fowler (with real talking goat action)!

Say What! Helheim Art Gallery Co-Sponsored By Oni Press

I think it's safe to say that most of us that read Helheim enjoyed the shit out of it. If you're in the Portland area or are planning a trip then check out the details about Joelle Jones' art show.

WHO: Joëlle Jones
WHAT: The Art of “HELHEIM”
WHEN: Thursday, April 4th, 6-10pm; Exhibit on display through April 28th
WHERE: Sequential Art Gallery + Studio, 328 NW Broadway #113, PDX

Sequential Art Gallery proudly presents the Art of “HELHEIM”, by Joëlle Jones. Sponsored in part by publisher Oni Press, and comic book retailer Bridge City Comics, Jones will be displaying original pages and variant cover art from her new series “Helheim”, written by Cullen Bunn. The exhibit opens this Thursday, April 4th, with the artist’s reception from 6pm to 10pm. Copies of “Helheim” #1 will be available for purchase.

Set in the late 6th Century, “Helheim” blends vikings, witchcraft, and undead monsters into a deliciously violent and horrifying mystery. Following her work on DC/Vertigo’s “Madame Xanadu” and Dark Horse’s “House of Night”, Jones is no stranger to the fantasy genre. With “Helheim”, Jones is producing the finest work of her career. In the recently released first issue, Jones expertly depicts the cold northern lands of the vikings, as well as the gore and mayhem of fierce battle, all with her recognizable-yet-clearly-evolving drawing style.

Additionally, the Art of “HELHEIM” exhibit will be part of the Stumptown Comics Fest’s Art Gallery Tours on Saturday, April 27th & Sunday, April 28th. The Fest offers limited-seating guided tours of several Portland galleries, all featuring exhibits by illustrators and comic book artists. The tours are free to Fest attendees. (www.stumptowncomics.com)

Since her debut in “12 Reasons Why I Love Her” with collaborator Jamie S. Rich, Jones has assembled an impressive body of work (“You Have Killed Me”, “Popgun”, “Fables”, “Ultimate Spider-Man”), with several major publishers (Oni Press, DC/Vertigo, Marvel, and Dark Horse), and worked with other acclaimed creators (Matt Wagner, Brian Michael Bendis, Janet Evanovich). In 2010, she co-created “Spell Checkers” with Rich and Nicolas Hitori de. You can learn more about Jones at her website, www.joellejones.com, and follow her on Twitter, @Joelle_Jones.

The Art of “HELHEIM” will be on display throughout the month of April, with gallery hours on Thursdays from 3pm-7pm, Saturdays from 11am-5pm, and by appointment. The exhibit will close at the end of the tours on Sunday, April 28th.

Sequential Art Gallery + Studio is located in Old Town Chinatown at the Everett Station Lofts, 328 NW Broadway #113. Open for regular gallery hours Thursdays (3pm-7pm) and Saturdays (11am-5pm) or by appointment. The gallery showcases local artists who explore the concept of sequential art, which is loosely defined as using consecutive images to tell a story. Curated by Kaebel JK Hashitani and Merrick Monroe.

Female Comic Readers Find Hope in Being Able To Be A Warrior Without Big Tits In This Webcomic Short

Reed and Hill, who also wrote Americus, bring us a free webcomic called The Titular Hero. The comic, set in Lord of the Rings time, revolves around a group taking a trip to a sundry shop, The two females of the group get introduced to Lady Bosoms from the greasy half-orc. This comic happens to be the best seller of the shop owner. The two women start to notice how unorthodox Lady Bosoms fighting tactics are. She doesn’t even have the right armor for the job. The owner just keeps fighting the girls on the subject and they play fun at his shop. There are just so few fantasy women that anyone can look up to without seeing her boobies first. Anyway, this little comic is a quick read and made me laugh. You can read the full comic here.

Here's The Rest Of The Ninja Turtles For The Reboot That You're Really Stoked For

We have all four turtles casted now. Looks like Michael Bay wanted to announce his big stars ( I am rolling my eyes right now) with Megan Fox as April O’Neil and Alan Ritchson as Raphael. Now we have Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, Jeremy Howard as Donatello and Noel Fisher as Michelangelo. What is funny to me is that this movie will be motion captured, so these guys will get paid big bucks to move around not even looking like themselves. We don’t even know if they will voice the turtles yet. Honestly though I lost passion for this project when I realized Michael Tool Bag... I mean Bay would be directing it.
