We're back! The holiday's wrecked us and let's be honest the movies stuck like a fish out of water. Speaking of stinky movies, we're going to talk about Aquaman 2: Birth of Aqualad or whatever the fuck this movie is called. It's the end of the old DCEU or the DCU... DC Comics really shitty movie line because they let Zack Snyder make too many music videos and pissed away all their potential. Attach your snorkel tightly and get ready for the golden showers that is Aquaman 2: The Deuce is Loose!

By Dustin Cabeal
You might be wondering why I'm reviewing a three-month-old comic... maybe four months, I can never tell. Well, recently, Xbox gave away a subscription to the poorly named DC Infinite, and I decided to see what DC was up to. First and foremost, there is nothing "infinite" about the app. If you want to read new books, you'll need the Ultra upgrade, which allows you to read the digital version a month after its release. So, why am I reading the first issue of a comic that's likely already on its fourth issue? That's why, that's why.
Cyborg #1 follows a familiar formula for first-issue superhero comics starring long-established supporting characters now focused on as main characters. Don't get me wrong; I like Cyborg, and I understand that he's someone's favorite superhero, and that's great. Every character is someone's favorite, but not every character is meant to be a main character. It's something that's often forgotten in comics. Editors, I assume, or even corporate overlords, decide to highlight a character and try to "make them a star," I can imagine some suit saying. Will it work? I kind of doubt it with this iteration of Cyborg. He's a great supporting character, but when you move a supporting character to the main role, you open the question of "who supports the supporting character?"

By Dustin Cabeal
If there is one thing that DC excels at in the comic book and movie realm, it’s creating interesting variations of their characters. Each iteration of Batman on film has been successful because of the tweaks and adjustments. It’s the film makers version of Batman rather than the definitive version of the character. You may be wondering why I’ve brought up the Batman/DC movies on a comic book review, well because they share many similarities with what DC has always done in the comics. Look at Frank Miller’s numerous Batman titles and just in recent years the Black Label has become a haunt of different versions of Batman.

By Cat Wyatt
It may have only been two weeks since the last issue of Green Lanterns released, but with what has been going on lately it feels like longer. Last we saw of our Green Lantern corps was not good. The Elops were being eradicated, a Guardian had been murdered, Hal was missing, and John had been seriously wounded. On the bright side, things couldn’t possibly get any worse, right?

Batman #52 has an interesting title, to put it lightly. You know something interesting or confusing it about to happen with a title like Batman vs. Bruce Wayne. Obviously we have a pretty good idea of what will happen, based off the events of the last issue, but still…should be interesting.
To recap quickly: Bruce Wayne is part of the jury in a trial for Mister Freeze. Mister Freeze has been accused of killing three women. It’s very important to note that Batman is the one that found the evidence indicating to the murder, and he’s also the one that brought Freeze in. He also beat the snot out of Freeze first. Seriously, it was a brutal beating.

By Kelly Gaines
The brooding, alcoholic, White Witch of Gotham has finally come to terms with what she really is- a superhero. Mother Panic #5 marks a moment of genuine change and borderline gentleness for Gotham's second most angsty vigilante. Violet may not be happy in this strange new reality, but that doesn't make fighting the good fight any less important; especially now that she knows there is no way home.

By Kelly Gaines
Allow me to start by saying I made a mistake in my last review of Mera: Queen of Atlantis, and I could not be more relieved. Orm is not marrying his own sister; he's just forcing her to marry Nereus against her will. We can all rest much easier now. Mera's claim on the throne has all come down to this- the final installment of the Mera mini-series. Mera has been a satisfying read, and #6 gives us a trial by combat that would make a Lannister proud and closes out Mera's chapter with a triumphant bang.

With the last Batwoman plot fully wrapped up, it’s time to start a new adventure. Batwoman #17 brings us the Time of Your Life plot, and of course, that’s actually a time-related pun, not an indication of Batwoman a vacation. Still, it’s good to know that she’s still on the job, even with everything that’s happened between her and Batman.

Batman #51 is the first issue after the major event that could have been, and unsurprisingly it’s titled ‘Cold Days.’ This holds up for a couple of reasons, one of which being Batman’s mood, the other being the villain portrayed on the cover. It looks like it’s time for another classic Batman versus Mr. Freeze…or is it?

It seems like the Green Lanterns can’t ever catch a break, can they? Set shortly after they had dealt with the Darkstars, the Green Lanterns are now facing a new and less understood threat. Worse, thanks to the conclusion of the last episode it seems like they might not even be able to safely trust their own. This issue, Green Lanterns #51, Evil’s Might, continues on with that threat of concern.
Read MoreReview: DC/Young Animal: Milk Wars
By Jonathan Edwards
DC/Young Animal: Milk Wars is a weird kind of crossover. I know, big surprise from the story about the extradimensional corporation Retonn weaponizing milk to “homogenize” the DCU. But, what I mean is, it’s not a dedicated five-issue miniseries, nor is it a five-part story taking place in single issues of the various books involved. Instead, it’s five separate one-shots, each pairing DC and Young Animal characters. Now, Grant Morrison did something similar with The Multiversity, but there, it directly ties into the narrative. Whereas, with Milk Wars, it’s a stylistic choice more than anything else. But, what makes it truly strange is the fact that two of the one-shots, Mother Panic/Batman Special #1and Shade the Changing Girl/Wonder Woman Special #1 have little to no impact on the plot. You could remove both of those issues and their respective characters, and the story literally wouldn’t change at all.
