I’m going to go on the record and say that Haikyuu!! is now my Number 4 on my Anime Top 5. There, I said it. While this season may have been the shortest of the series, I cannot fault it for staying true to its purpose and not trying to fill any unnecessary gaps.
The interesting thing about this season is that even though Hinata is the main character, they hardly focus on him at all. In fact, a lot of the focus was on Tsukishima, a supporting character. To see the show build on a supporting character and mold him into now a favorite of mine is something I absolutely adored about this show. The animation captured the intensity of the tournament and it felt life-like. Everything about this season was damn near perfect.
Even if you don’t like sports anime, I urge you to check this one out. Excellent character building with excellent animation lead this for being a top this year.
