The Kims hunt bounties across dimensions and space. Kim Q. wields a might guitar for musical purposes and for kicking an occasional ass. Kim D. has great aim and common sense. With Kim Q. being the reckless one and Kim D. being more grounded, the duo balances one another well.
The magna-influenced artwork drew me to this book. I found the illustrations to be clever, emotive, and expressive. Best of all, the vehicle designs steal attention on every paged featured. The Kims slip between dimensions in a souped-up Volkswagen van. Space taxis take on the look of futuristic tractors with tires that angle over for space flight. And the dimensional space holds ringed 
bodies with asteroid markings—all rendered in the brightest of colors.
The story, though, is just plain fun. Both Kims roughhouse, interrupt breakups, and camp out. The pair has something wacky and odd going on to fill up every panel. In between the action the Kims deal with relationships, family issues, and their difficult work. Although this first issue runs a few pages longer than other comic books, the time is well spent on devolving the characters, plotting the action, and setting up the next adventure.
Kim & Kim will reach its tentacle arm from the back seat and pull you into its grasp with some Fifth Element styled art, standout characters, and entertaining storytelling.
