SDCC 2016: BOOM! Announces 'Warlords of Appalachia' Which Is Fun To Say

At first read this is just Escape from New York plus... well I'm not going to say the political candidate's name because it's like one of those myths in which saying the name gives them some kind of real world power... Okay, it's Drumpf. What stood out to me after the really uninspired plot was how stacked this main character is. I mean he's basically a video game character that's maxed out his skill trees... like all of them. He's a mechanic... he's a former medic... a former MMA fighter... just put that he's has a gold medal with a bow and arrow and that he brews his own beer, making him the ultimate man! That art looks good, but this is this writer's second "look how fucked up America could be in the future" comic and that doesn't bod well with me. We'll read it to find out though. From BOOM! Studios:

The simmering tensions of a range of current issues, including religious liberties, gun control, and international concerns, boil over at the same time with a new president at the helm, causing a second U.S. Civil War. The New Confederacy is crushed but Kentucky holds out, not recognizing U.S. sovereignty. It is during this tense situation that Chess, the 13-year-old son of Kade Mercer—a mechanic, former National Guard medic, and former MMA fighter—is captured by forces sent by U.S. President Roth, causing Kade to rise up and become the first feudal warlord of Appalachia.
