Worst of 2014: Worst Ongoing Series

While the end of the year is usually all about the good, we here at Comic Bastards like to also remember... well the worst of year as well. That's right, we've given you the best and handed out our cuts, but now we're handing out golden eggs to our worst picks of 2014. Why a golden egg? Well take a look at the big ass eagle logo on the side and you can put the pieces together. Now let's dive into our next category: Worst Ongoing Series.

James - Guardians of the Galaxy

Typically if the title is shit, I leave and don't look back. Regarding the Bendis run on Guardians, I just haven't been able to get into it that much this past year.  It is not some of his best work and I just haven't been able to enjoy as I did in 2013. Very disappointing to me.

Allen - Guardians of the Galaxy

Hey, there are a lot of horrible, HORRIBLE ongoings. See nearly all of the DC 52. But Guardians should be one of the best books Marvel produces right now. The movie was a huge hit, and they have fucking Bendis writing this. The guy who is capable of taking this amazing cast of characters and make them boring. They all sound the same (besides Groot), they all act like weird versions of themselves. This was such an amazing book when launched after Annihilation 2 Ultron boogaloo which was the basis of the movie, and Bendis found a way to ruin it.

Austin - Sex Criminals

When this book hit previews and I heard the concept it immediately went on my pull list: it did not stay on there long.  I enjoy sex, crime, AND spatio-temporal nonsense, but this series was just so indulgent in its subject matter it didn't leave any time for me to care about the characters.

Kevin - G. I.  Joe

Can anyone please write this book with a miniscule ounce of respect for the original source material without cocking it up?  It is not that hard people. Then again, maybe it is... This title has hand a million and one chance and for something so classic and rich in history this thing should just write itself.

David - The Punisher

OK this might be a little bit harsh because truth be told I did not stick with this series for long, so it might have improved a little since I bailed. But holy cow that first issue made me so annoyed that I didn't know what to do with myself. I feel like Nathan Edmonson's Punisher might be alright if it were a creator owned series about a vigilante that had no ties to the Marvel Universe in any way, but as a PUNISHER comic, it just didn't work. The Punisher does not make jokes. The Punisher does not make friends. He definitely doesn't have any romantic relationships. And yet in this book's first issue I saw a snarky Frank Castle, with a couple of close friends, and what seemed like some very flirtatious habits. Edmonson seemed to have no understanding of the character, and when compared to Greg Rucka's stellar run, this is just plain bad.

Dustin - Deadly Class

This is by far the hardest category for me because I'm sure there are way shittier books out there, but I didn't read them. Amazing Spider-Man I'm sure is worse, but I only read one issue. Deadly Class though I just recently gave up on. I loved the first issue, but everything after that was trying way to hard. The art and coloring are still great, but I couldn't stand the story.

Carl - Doctor Spektor

This book makes no sense, not does it seem like it's from Mark Waid.  I can't figure it out.

Neil - Green Lantern

I love GL, but this series has just gotten less and less interesting.

Samantha - Wonder Woman

Now that dumb and dumber have taken over, I can't stand this series.

Nick - Dead End Boys
