While Food Wars: The Second Plate wasn’t as long as the first season of the show, it did have a lot of thrills as it finished the fall classic. Having read ahead in the manga, I’m looking forward to the third season already. But the second season managed to handle two important chunks of the series.
Soma’s character development continues to be rich and diverse as he finally begins to find himself as a chef. The food dishes themselves were a bit on the “meh” side of things, but food orgasms continue to be ridiculous and hilarious. By far the strongest part of the season was Soma versus Subaru, but the rest is good too. If you loved the first season, then you’ll love the second season. If they nail the third season and give it a longer run, you’ll probably love it more than both of these combined.
